We’re right in the middle of Spring, a blissfully sunny month with the sunshine, vibrant colors and the freshness of other nutritional foods new. If you’re itching for a chance to get outside and take in the sunshine, why confine your workouts to the four corners of a gym?

Whether you’re someone who prefers to stay close to home or escape into the world for a thrilling adventure, there’s tons of outdoor activities you can try to interrupt up the monotony of your workouts. Getting outside is not only good for your weight, but your mental well-being too.

Activities to Help You SPRING into Action

Whether it’s a weekend adventure or perhaps a week day outing to relieve work stress, the following activities will help you get outside with a fun and engaging fitness component.

Spring and Summer Gardening

Pick a piece of land from your yard and identify what crops could grow there this spring/summer. Should you don’t have access to land, a container garden for your porch or patio will work. Herbs, small fruits/veggies, and vibrant flowers will liven up your living space and give you something to be proud of. If you’re growing food, an outdoor will also produce healthy options.

Make a Splash and Hit the Water

It’s heating up outside, so try cool down with engaging water activities. Beyond swimming inside your backyard or community pool, there are also a local lake/river/park to go kayaking, canoeing or fishing. Employ this activity before fall and winter arrive!

Hike for a Full Body Workout

A hike in the woods is a superb way to burn calories since you traverse different terrains. Which means you’re working different muscles within your body, and you’re also taking in lots of oxygen and releasing endorphins. For a more effective workout, take a pedometer along with you.

Go Biking and Feel the Breeze in your Face

Biking is a fun, simple way to get out of the house and get active. Whether you and a group of friends/family go for a ride around town, or you take your bikes to some nearby trail, this outdoor activity can be very invigorating. It’s fun to get off your feet and move faster.

Connect with Nature and Go Camping

Spring is the best season to go camping because it’s much less hot or cold outside. It’s an excellent opportunity to connect with nature and escape digital world we’re constantly encompassed by. Bring some healthy foods to roast round the campfire and you’re golden!
